Jamie Robert Vollmer

Jamie Vollmer is President of Vollmer, Inc., a consulting firm working to increase student success by strengthening community support of America’s schools.

Jamie is a former businessman and attorney. He worked in the Washington D.C. law firm of United States Congressman William Cramer until 1985, when he left to become in-house council of the Great Midwestern Ice Cream Company proclaimed by People Magazine to make the “Best Ice Cream in America!” He ultimately became the company’s president.

In 1988, Jamie became a founding member of the Iowa Business and Education Roundtable.  He served as a volunteer for two years until becoming the Roundtable’s Executive Director in 1990, a post he held for three years.

Once a harsh critic, he is now an articulate champion of America’s public schools. Over the last eighteen years he has worked with school districts, chambers of commerce and educational foundations to improve student success.  His presentations have been praised as both practical and energizing.  He uses statistics, logic and humor to deliver a positive message regarding the future of our schools, and outlines a community-based plan to develop human capital within schools that give all students the opportunity to unfold their full potential.

Jamie is the author of the forth-coming book, Stand Up for Public Schools.  He has written and produced the videos, Why Our Schools Need to Change, Teachers are Heroes, and Building Support for America’s Schools. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pennsylvania State University and a Juris Doctor from Catholic University in Washington, DC.

Dr. Stephen Uebbing
Steve Uebbing comes to the Warner School as the former superintendent of the Canandaigua City School District. He brings extensive school and district experience. He taught social studies, coached, and advised student clubs as a teacher in the Letchworth Central School for a decade, before becoming the high school principal and then superintendent of the Fort Plain Central School.

As superintendent in Canandaigua since 1988, Uebbing's accomplishments include: the development and implementation of four five-year strategic "Plans for Excellence"; participation in planning and implementing nearly $80 million in capital improvements; incorporation of organization-wide participatory decision-making and planning; incorporation of principled collective bargaining; development and implementation of instructional improvement models; development of partnerships with area and national corporations; development of nationally cited character education initiative; and focused improvement resulting in high levels of student performance.

During Uebbing's tenure, Canandaigua Academy has been named a national Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, the Middle School has been labeled "one of the best in the country" by Paul George of the University of Florida, a nationally recognized Middle School authority, and both the Primary and Elementary Schools have successfully completed the rigorous Middle States Accreditation process, an unusual distinction for the K-5 grade levels.

At Warner, Uebbing will teach courses on educational leadership with a focus on K-12 schools and educational decision-making. His research interests are in leadership development, organizational change, law and policy. He is also interested in comparative education and K-12/higher education collaboration. Articles by Uebbing have appeared in Middle School Journal, The School Administrator, The Executive Educator, and The Journal of School Business Officials International. Uebbing is a frequent speaker at state and national conferences.
